Blogging Away

Posted by Schroeder on November 10th, 2005

It’s been a few days days since my last blog post but I’m still blogging. I’m working on two new blogs that I think they will be amazing (I just wanted to sound like Donald Trump). Before I announce and link to the blogs I wanted to at least get a couple posts on them. Thank You to TechWench for work on the style. I have been working on tweaking them and adding more wordpress plugins. By Monday I’ll probably begin advertising one of the blogs. I think it will grow into a very successful blog. The Schroeder Blog is more for fun but these will be part of the ePressive business. Stay Tuned.

And totally off subject, Stocks have been moving up nicely lately.
By the way, while posts are moderated, at the moment one does not need to register anymore in order to reply. :)

Chitika eMiniMalls Review - Chitika Tips

Posted by Schroeder on November 1st, 2005

Chitika eMiniMalls Review:
I’d be surprised if have had not heard of Chitika already. Chitika helps you monetize your website or blog by placing their “eMiniMalls” on your site and paying you on a Per-Click basis. They are quickly becoming a formidable Google Adsense alternative. However, if you follow the Google Adsense TOS by removing the search option and disable the contextual targetting (Chitika now makes these changes easy via your publisher control panel) you can place BOTH Adsense and Chitika on the same page.

To Remove the Search option just add:
ch_nosearch = 1 ;” to your chitika code.
To Remove Contextual Targetting add:
ch_non_contextual = 1;” to your chitika code

So far, in my own personal experience (which also appears to what many other Chitika Publishers are reporting) the Per-Click payout is well higher than Adsense but depending on ad placement, blending and your type of site, you may get less clicks than Adsense.

Here is a sample of a Chitika eMiniMall ad below:

Mouse over the tabs to see the eMinimall unit in action:

Available Chitika Banner Sizes and Color Modifications Include:
Leaderboard (728 x 90), Banner (468 x 60), Rectangle (336 x 160), Small Rectangle (180 x 150), Medium Rectangle (300 x 250), Skyscraper (120 x 600), Wide Skyscraper (160 x 600) Small Square (160 x 160), Blog Banner (468 x 180), Square (250 x 250), or a Square (250 x 250)

Chitika also allows You to change the eMiniMalls Border, Title, Text and Background Colors.

Chitika Sample Keywords Lists:
If you need help coming up with keywords for eMinimalls targeting, Chitika has created a sample list of categories and keywords to help give you ideas. It’s only a sample list and does not cover all the eMinimall products.

Other Misc Chitika Tips:
Currently there is no limit to the number of eMiniMalls that you can have on one page. However, they do not recommend any more than 3 due to ‘banner blindness.

Chitika has a generous optional affiliate program in which You’ll earn 10% of what each of your referrals earn referral for 12 months.

Try Chitika eMiniMalls Today

(I’ll be adding more to this post shortly but have to call it quits for the night).

Google Adsense Wordpress Plugin

Posted by Schroeder on November 1st, 2005

I added a Google Adsense Wordpress plugin which makes it easier to integrate Google Adsense Ads into a wordpress post and at different sizes.

The plugin lets you choose not to display them on the homepage and because Google only allows 3 ads per page i disabled the ad on the homepage. If you click on this thread title it will show how I setup adsense within this post.

Google Base ( GoogleBase.com ) Coming Soon!

Posted by Schroeder on October 26th, 2005

I know I talk about Google alot but they never stop amazing me. Sure, I can get pretty pissed at them if they drop some of my good keyword rankings but they still are always coming up with clever new ideas. MSN, YAHOO, EBAY, VONAGE (and the other voice over IP companies) should all continue to be very, very worried.

It is not in Beta yet but apparently they will be coming out with a new classified-ads site called Google Base. Will Google Base be a “landgrab in online auctions? Or classified ads? Or even more”?

Here is an interesting article that talk more about Google Base here.

Here is a blog post by someone over at zdnet that talks about How Google Talk could integrate with Google Base ( I blogged about Google Talk a few weeks ago )

Right now, the domain www.googlebase.com just lands you on a normal Google search page. But someone did capture a screenshot of GoogleBase at Base.Google.com which is now a forbidden page. And here is one more screenshot of Google Base. I can’t wait to see Google Base go into Beta!

ePressive Updates

Posted by Schroeder on October 24th, 2005

Today, among a hundred other things, I took some time updating ePressive.com

ePressive.com is basically the hub site which lists most of the ePressive network websites. ePressive LLC is also my registered business name. I’m registered as a LLC (Limited Liability Company) but chose to pay taxes as a S-Corporation. I’ll have to make a seperate post as to why I do this. Anyway, back to the ePressive updates:

I replaced DevBox.net with the new DevRead.com site (which I really need to get back to updating).

I added WebmasterLead.com and WebDevSites.com to the portfolio page.

I updated the about epressive page. It had said “coming soon” so I just wrote up something quick to replace that with…

I also added a link on the index page to a new computer and technology forum that I am co-owning with Dave and Chris. It will take some time, but I think that site has a lot of potential. It’s called TheNewTech (it will be much more than just forums).
